DESCRIPTION:Walls of Resistance: Art as Activism brings together more than 17 artists who explore graffiti as both a vital artistic tradition and a powerful form of activism. Curated by mural artist Leon Rainbow\, the exhibition highlights graffiti’s ability to challenge conventions\, strengthen communities\, and transform overlooked spaces. This impact has affirmed its place as one of the world’s largest and most influential art movements. Among the featured artists is legendary Philadelphia graffiti artist Cornbread\, widely recognized as one of the pioneering figures in the history of graffiti. \nLeon Rainbow grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area before moving to New Jersey\, where he developed his aerosol art practice under the guidance of renowned graffiti artists. He painted his first mural in 1999 and has since expanded his practice to include large-scale public murals and major collaborative projects. His work includes a mural at MetLife Stadium\, where he represented the State of New Jersey\, as well as Jersey Fresh Jam\, New Jersey’s premier Hip Hop cultural festival. \nImage: Hands Up (detail)\, 2014.
