In conjunction with Transcendent: Landscapes of the Hudson River School, this gallery talk explores Frederic Church’s singular place within nineteenth-century landscape painting. Maggie Dimock, Associate Curator for The Olana Partnership, will consider Church’s approach to travel, observation, and the sublime, and how his paintings helped expand the ambitions and geographic reach of the Hudson River School.
