    Conservation Clinic

Bring in cherished objects and learn how to preserve them for future generations. From family quilts and photo albums to ceramics, portraits, furniture, and everything in between, conservation staff and students will hear the stories of your objects and share condition assessments, treatment recommendations, and display and storage advice.

Your advance registration allows us to match you with someone who specializes in conservation of your object, whether it is a painting, textile, works of art on paper, book, archival document, photograph, furniture, or three-dimensional object (glass, ceramics, metals, organics).

Free. By appointment only. Call 800.448.3883, x7029 to make an appointment. Limit three objects of the same media per 30-minute appointment. No monetary appraisals given.

Conservation Clinics are also offered on March 4 and April 1, 2027.

Creative Connections: Scent Tour of Transcendent: Landscapes of the Hudson River School with Laura Plaster

Join us for a new, multisensory experience of Transcendent: Landscapes of the Hudson River School led by Laura Plaster, an educator at Winterthur Museum, Garden & Library. During this guided one-hour discussion, paintings from the exhibition will be paired with curated fragrances from independent perfumers to explore the scents inherent to the landscapes captured in the compositions. Slow down, sniff something new, and consider the ways that scents in nature contributed to the spiritual experiences that transcendentalists and those devoted to nature worship sought as part of their belief in the transformative capacities of the natural world.
