What does it mean to picture a place as “wilderness”? Join Carolyn Hauk, doctoral candidate in Art History at University of Delaware, for a gally talk that examines the relationship between tourism and 19th-century landscape painting. Through celebrated views of Niagara, the Adirondacks, South America, and the American West, she will explore how ideas of the sublime and national identity were shaped alongside histories of dispossession, exclusion, and environmental change.

Since 1951, Winterthur has inspired visitors and scholars alike. This symposium is celebration of founder Henry Francis du Pont’s enduring legacy in American material culture and horticulture. After morning lectures about current and future research initiatives, have a choose-your-adventure experience (10 available) in the museum, garden, or library. Graffiti takes center stage at the 4th Annual Hip Hop Cultural Summit: Art as Activism, presented in partnership with AllHipHop and Guerrilla Republik in conjunction with Stop the Violence Coalition, Inc. This free, all-ages event brings together artists, Hip Hop legends, performers, and community leaders to celebrate Hip Hop’s five elements and explore its deep connections to creative expression, activism, and social change.
This year we’re highlighting Hip Hop as both a cultural force and a tool for activism. DelArt welcomes Darryl “Cornbread” McCray, the Philadelphia native widely recognized as a pioneer of modern graffiti. Experience dance performances, live DJ sets, an MC Battle, panel discussions, book signings, vendors, community conversations, and more throughout the Museum.
Kick off the day with Live! Music Brunch, hosted by Roxy Romeo and featuring a special presentation by Ladies of Hip Hop. Explore graffiti’s history and impact through the Summit’s companion exhibition, Walls of Resistance: Art as Activism, featuring the artwork of Cornbread alongside 17 graffiti artists.
Presented in partnership with Stop the Violence Coalition’s Peace Week Delaware, the Summit will also host the culminating Superheroes for Peace award ceremony, celebrating individuals making a positive impact in their communities.

Founded in 2004, Ladies of Hip-Hop (LOHH) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering girls and women in Hip-Hop culture. Rooted in New York City, LOHH reclaims and transforms spaces to provide women with a platform to be heard, seen, respected, and celebrated. As a living archive of Hip-Hop, LOHH centers women and girls, ensuring they have an active role in preserving the culture and defining its future.
DJ Supreme will take on a journey from deep crafting of the blending and selecting and shaping music to take a live audience on an emotional journey.
Supreme is a championship DJ, turntablist, producer, and longtime figure in Hip Hop culture, combining championship pedigree, crowd-rocking versatility, and more than three decades of experience.
One of Supreme’s first major accomplishments was winning the 1991 World Supremacy Championship, beginning a competitive résumé that would eventually span multiple decades — and even two centuries. He later added victories including the 2006 Roc Raida Gong Battle, the 2009 DMC USA Supremacy Championship, and the Hip Hop 50th Anniversary Battle Champs competition in Times Square, establishing a rare record of major competition wins across different generations of DJ culture.
His career has also included touring, television, recording, and performances with artists including Lauryn Hill, KRS-One, Common, Dead Prez, Onyx, and The Crash Crew. He has appeared on Club MTV and BET’s Rap City, is credited on Lauryn Hill’s landmark album The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill and toured during the album’s celebrated run.
In the early 1990s, Supreme was the first to define the term “turntablist” to distinguish DJs who performed with turntables as instruments from those who simply played records—a term that would later become part of the English lexicon.
Supreme is also known as an entertaining and exciting live performance and show DJ, bringing personality, technique, musicality, and crowd interaction together onstage. Beyond concerts and showcases, he is a versatile party DJ, equally comfortable rocking clubs and private events with a broad mix of Hip Hop, R&B, funk, disco, reggae, house, dance music, and urban classics.
A vinyl purist with a personal collection of more than 20,000 records, Supreme was also among the early DJs to test the original Serato prototype, bridging traditional DJ craft with emerging digital technology.
With major victories across eras, deep roots in Hip Hop, and the ability to command both a stage and a dance floor, DJ Supreme continues to represent DJing and turntablism at their highest level.
Roxy Romeo is a national radio powerhouse, heard in over 63 markets across the U.S. – including Miami, Houston, Atlanta, & Detroit. Though her voice is coast-to-coast, she connects with listeners like close friends. Born & raised in Miami, Roxy got her start with a 6am Sunday shift & has since risen to become a co-host on Philly’s Rise + Grind Morning Show on Power 99.
She’s earned recognition as a “Top 40 Under 40” leader by Legacy Magazine, a Team Henessy honoree, & a voice for community and culture. Off the mic, Roxy is all about family, culture, & causes. She’s a proud wife & mom of 2, passionate about music, women’s health and deeply rooted in her Caribbean heritage with Trinidadian pride running through her veins. If Roxy isn’t on the air or spending time with her family, she might be preparing to run a marathon.
