100+ Classic Sad Songs That Make You Cry

(It’s True) Sad Songs Make You Cry

Sad songs can be a cathartic and emotional experience for listeners, and many great sad songs have been written over the years.  The odd thing about sad songs is that they can also be happy songs. That song, which meant everything to the old girlfriend, can still make you cry with the opening notes today.
Sometimes, that sad song can indicate an upcoming hope or a desire to climb out of a sad situation. I’ve always believed that we wouldn’t appreciate the good stuff without the sad stuff.

Everything ever created by man has been made so by some driven need he didn’t have.
    Or to impress a girl.

It’s always about something we don’t have and must work to achieve. Sad songs can be the stuff that fuels our dreams to become a reality.

    Funeral Songs: Mourning and Grieving

    Songs about Mourning and Grieving

Funeral songs are for remembering and honoring the deceased. They are also to help the family and friends of the recently departed. The songs remind us of our family members, our friend, or even our acquaintance. The song may evoke a memory, a sense of loss, or even a sense of joy in remembering a departed loved one. Everyone mourns in their own way. You can’t judge how other people deal with their loss, and the songs in this list represent that ideal. Sad, uplifting, funny, or ironic; each of the songs and instrumentals here is designed to help anyone get through their loss. The numerical order here really doesn’t matter. The perfect song played for a funeral is as unique as an individual’s fingerprint.

“In the simplest terms, a dirge is a song or hymn of grief and lamentation. It is a song especially intended to accompany a funeral or provide a memorial to the deceased.” About Dirges and songs of mourning
